The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is embarking on a national search for its next Vice President of University Research (VPUR). This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team at the nation’s only public urban land-grant HBCU and play a central role in elevating the visibility, impact, and reputation of UDC’s research enterprise. The VPUR will be a key architect in shaping the future of research at the University—advancing UDC’s strategic priorities, driving innovation, and contributing directly to the institution’s ascension to R2 status.
The next VPUR will lead transformative change by building and sustaining a robust, cross-institutional research infrastructure through the Office of University Research. The University seeks a visionary and collaborative leader who can strategically advance research—placing particular emphasis on multidisciplinary, community-engaged, and mission-aligned scholarship, including vital non-STEM disciplines.
Nominations and applications are now being accepted. Dossiers should include 1) a complete CV/résumé and 2) cover letter of interest that addresses the responsibilities, competencies and requirements, the applicant’s motivation to apply and interest in UDC.
The search will be conducted with a commitment to confidentiality until finalists are selected. Initial screening of applications will begin immediately and will continue until an appointment is made.
