The Opportunity
EducationDynamics (EDDY) seeks an experienced and visionary communications leader to serve as Vice President of Strategic Communications. This executive will lead a nationally respected team that partners with colleges and universities to advance reputation, navigate crises, and tell authentic institutional stories that drive engagement and trust. Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President will serve as a trusted advisor to client presidents, boards, and senior leaders, shaping communication strategy across EDDY’s higher education portfolio and mentoring a talented team of professionals.
Leadership Responsibilities
The Vice President of Strategic Communications will:
- Lead the agency’s strategic communications function for mission-critical and high-stakes initiatives.
- Serve as the primary advisor to presidents and boards on public relations, reputation management, and media strategy.
- Develop and implement integrated communication frameworks that align institutional missions with EDDY’s marketing and brand initiatives.
- Direct crisis and issues management planning, including rapid-response strategies for complex or sensitive situations.
- Mentor and empower a team of communications professionals, fostering innovation and collaboration across projects.
- Represent EDDY nationally through conferences, partnerships, and thought leadership in higher-education communications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership in strategic communications, public relations, or crisis management, preferably in higher education or a mission-driven sector.
- Proven experience advising executives and leading communications in complex or high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrated success developing media relationships and securing coverage in national and industry outlets.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate sensitive issues with diplomacy and composure.
- Innovative mindset with a commitment to collaboration, integrity, and excellence.
