Murray State University is pleased to invite applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. This is a defining opportunity to partner with President Ron Patterson as the University enters a new era of leadership, academic innovation, and institutional momentum. With $200 million in capital projects supporting new and expanded facilities—including a School of Nursing and Health Professions Building, a Veterinary Sciences building, and a Learning Commons/Residence Hall—the next Provost will help guide Murray State’s academic direction at a pivotal moment.
As the University’s chief academic officer, the Provost provides vision, leadership, and strategic oversight for a broad and dynamic Academic Affairs portfolio. This includes the Colleges of Business; Education and Human Services; Humanities and Fine Arts; Science, Engineering and Technology; as well as the School of Agriculture and the School of Nursing and Health Professions, along with key academic support and success units. The Provost will champion academic innovation, support faculty scholarship and development, strengthen student success, steward academic resources, and advance high-impact practices that prepare students for meaningful careers and engaged citizenship.
The ideal candidate will be a relational, collaborative, and transparent leader who can unite stakeholders around a shared vision for academic excellence while effectively leading through change. Priorities for the role include academic program development and portfolio management, budget stewardship and resource alignment, and strong accreditation leadership, including support for expanding professional programs.
