Founding Dean chosen for new Honors College


Chattanooga TN. Campus officials announced that after a nationwide search a founding dean has been hired to oversee the establishment of the University Honors College. Linda Frost, who is currently the director of the honors program at Eastern Kentucky University, was chosen by members of a search committee to head the newly formed college. Former provost Philip Oldham initiated talks to expand honors programming, and after raising necessary funds, officials formed a search committee to find the best possible candidate to lead the initiative, Verbie Prevost, professor of American literature and chair of the search committee said.

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) has chosen Dr. Penny Smith for their New Executive Director of Academic Services


A native of Danville, Kentucky, Penny Smith currently serves as Assistant Provost for Outreach and Extended Programs for Kentucky State University. As Assistant Provost for Outreach and Extended Programs, she is responsible for coordinating the universitys community outreach efforts, TRIO programs, and directs the universitys Office of Continuing and Distance Education. She is a 1997 graduate of Fisk University where she graduated summa cum laude in Psychology. She then completed her Master's of Education and Doctor of Education degrees from Vanderbilt University.

Laurence Alexander nominated UAPB Chancellor


Concluding a nationwide search, University of Arkansas System President Donald Bobbitt will nominate Laurence Alexander, an associate dean at the University of Florida, to be chancellor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. If the board of trustees approves, Alexander would begin in July.

The appointment was approved by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system board of trustees at their Tuesday morning meeting. Connie's track record has been truly impressive, Steven Rosenstone, MSCU chancellor said.

Gores to leave WSU for Southwest Minnesota State


Winona State University vice president for student life and development Connie Gores has been chosen as the next president for Southwest Minnesota State University located in Marshall.

The appointment was approved by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system board of trustees at their Tuesday morning meeting. Connie's track record has been truly impressive MNSCU Chancellor Steven Rosenstone, said in a release.

UW Names 24th President:
Current Oklahoma State Provost Robert Sternberg Will Assume UW Post July 1



An eminent psychologist and scholar who currently serves as provost and senior vice president at Oklahoma State University has been named the 24th president of the University of Wyoming. Robert J. Sternberg was offered a contract by a unanimous vote of the UW Board of Trustees Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 26) and has accepted the position. He will take office July 1, succeeding retiring President Tom Buchanan

ISU board of trustees selects Florida firm for President Search



The Illinois State University Board of Trustees hired a Florida firm Saturday to begin the search for a new president. Greenwood/Asher & Associates, of Miramar Beach, Fla., was selected among five firms who were in the running. The firm will be paid $89,000 to assist in the search, said Jay Groves, assistant to retiring ISU President Al Bowman.

Bryon L. Grigsby, senior vice president and vice president for academic affairs at Shenandoah University, has been named the 16th president of Moravian College and Moravian Theological Seminary. Grigsby is a 1990 graduate of Moravian College.

Nicol Rae, senior associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida International University, has been selected as the new dean of Montana State University's College of Letters and Science, university officials announced Monday.

The chief information officer at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville has been named to the same position at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Erich Matola, who has been the CIO at Wisconsin-Platteville since 2009, will begin his duties at CSU-Pueblo on Oct. 15.

FIU appoints Luisa M. Havens

Luisa M. Havens, Ph.D., has accepted the appointment as Vice President for Enrollment Services effective 15 October 2012.


Dr. Havens is Executive Director for Enrollment Services and Director of Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). At UTEP she has responsibility for Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Military Services, New Student Orientation, Student Testing and Assessment, and their One-Stop Office which she developed. She has been a leader in the implementation of technology for the division and in process reengineering to increase efficiencies and student satisfaction with enrollment services. She currently serves on the board of directors of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) as the Vice President for Access and Equity.

Kenning Arlitsch, associate dean for Information Technology Services at the University of Utah, has been selected as the new dean of the Montana State University Library. He begins Oct. 15.
"We are extremely pleased to have Kenning join us," said MSU Provost Martha Potvin. "He is a highly skilled administrator who will continue to move our library into the 21st century and beyond."
